Minnich Manufacturing has a rich history, and we are grateful for our people who have been a part of that history — they have been a consistent factor throughout a multitude of changes. Roger Minnich founded the company in 1968. The Minnich family takes pride in the private, family-run business today. We focus on trust and producing high-quality, long-lasting products, along with providing around-the-clock customer service.
In 2018, Minnich will celebrate its 50th anniversary and transition to the third generation of the family-owned business. The future looks bright, thanks to increased product market share and our dedication to innovative product engineering. Minnich is in position to succeed in the industry for generations to come.
1968 – Minnich Manufacturing was born. Roger Minnich made the decision to step out on his own after spending time as VP of Sales at Maginnis High Cycle Vibrators. He and two employees began building hydraulic vibrators in a gas station with a detached, three-bay garage. At the shop on N. Main Street in Mansfield, Ohio, Roger began his journey to convert concrete paving machines from high-cycle vibrators to hydraulic vibrators. He provided a complete package that powered the entire system including vibrators/hydraulic pumps and Ford engines. Roger found a demand for this conversion and traveled the countryside in his white station wagon converting machines to the new system — a job that usually took about three days. In those years, he built relationships with and became known by many major paving contractors in the U.S.
1970-93 – Roger added the first of five building additions in the early 1970s and added the final addition in 1993. Throughout this growth period, Roger acquired the Maginnis Vibrator line and also began an electrical Flex Shaft vibrator line.
1985 – Roger built his first concrete dowel drill at the request of a contractor.
1993 – Roger’s son Jim entered the business.
1994 – Roger Minnich won the Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan lifetime achievement award presented for unparalleled long-term commitment, dedication, participation, and leadership in the concrete pavement community. This award is presented annually by the ACPA.
1995 – Jim became the sole owner of Minnich Manufacturing.
1998 – Minnich introduced the first vibrator monitoring system, called the Auto Vibe. The system monitored vibrator speeds during paving. It was first requested by the state of Iowa, but several other states soon followed suit. Throughout the next few years, Minnich focused on developing monitoring systems with advanced features such as data recording. Eventually, they developed the Auto Vibe III that not only reads and records vibrator speeds but also controls the individual speed of each vibrator by regulating hydraulic fluid.
2008 – Minnich released its first remote-controlled dowel pin drill. For the operator, this meant enhanced visibility and reduced dust inhalation.
2010 – Minnich introduced The Hornet, a small, lightweight drilling machine — created in hopes of expanding the Minnich business to other markets. The Hornet is used for drilling gas leak detection and extraction holes.
2011 – Minnich moved to its present manufacturing facility. The facility added 14,000 square feet, which allows for future expansion.
